Established over thirty years ago, PENKO was acquired in June 2004 by ETC (Electronic Theatre Controls) of Middleton, WI, USA. Our ambitions have not changed - we are dedicated to supplying the best technology weighing and dosing solutions to clients who depend on continuous and batch control manufacturing processes. Our client base includes the food & beverage, pharmaceutical, packaging, metals, pulp & paper and petrochemical industries. New. The accuracy of strain gage load cell 300 is doubled! Weighing made even more accurate.
Load cell type 300 is a popular bending beam sensor. Thanks to the compact design, high reliability and accuracy this type finds many applications, both in automatic and non-automatic weighing equipment. The reliability is guaranteed by the stainless steel construction and the hermetic sealing of all electrical parts, resulting in the protection classes IP68 and IP69K. Therefore, type 300 proved its qualities too in types of industry, such as the chemical and food, with unfavourable operating conditions. The accuracy is/was in accordance with the ”industrial” standard, so suitable for weighing instruments of 3 000 d or, in other words, with an accuracy of 0,03 %.
In the carrying capacities of 50 kg up to and including 500 kg the sensors are now also available with an accuracy that allows applications of 6 000 d or 0,017 %. Producing is one thing, knowing what has been made, where and how another one. This question the PENKO program TP Datareporter answers quick, adequate and clear. Each weighing and dosing action is transferred directly with component/product information, pre-set and really dosed gross or net weight, time and date as a CSV file to an overhead system. Thanks to the chosen format, the information is directly entered into Windows-oriented programs, such as Excel or Windows. For the user, this has the advantage the information can be imported into existing files and file formats, so no parallel administrations are created.
New is, this package now is suitable for multiple weighers or weighing controllers, up to 15 pieces. As a result, it is no longer necessary to use one package per weigher. So now you can import and process data from the various weighing systems integrated into your computer system. Moreover the information now is available as a My SQL file too.
NEW, range hydraulically damped load cells expanded. Now available in weighing capacities up to 200 kg.
Single point load cells possess the particular characteristic to be insensitive for a moment. This allows measurement of eccentric positioned loads. This way weighing arrangements with surface sizes up to 600 x 600 mm can be realized with one sensor only. Additionally to this characteristic the hydraulically damped sensors add insensitivity to shocks and vibrations. It seems contradictory, but thanks to the frictionless damping, these load cells quickly offer a stable weighing signal. This feature allows utilization for fast processes such as sorting and filling by weight.
The 260 series is now expanded with carrying capacities up to 200 kg. In addition, the design has been modified to improve the protection class, from IP66 to IP68. This was achieved by means of a smart pressure equalization of the housing. Furthermore, the enclosure is out of stainless steel. NEW, the shear beam load cell series 350 are completed! Now for high capacities too!
In the process weighing these “shear beam” load cells have proved their quality. They are reliable, accurate and easy to install. Moreover the industrial characteristics, fully out of stainless steel and hermetically sealed, make this type fit for any application. The measuring principle, the determination of shear, avoids undesired influences such as from side forces.
This popular model was available in capacities from 300 up to 5 000 kg. As an extension the capacities of 7 500 and 10 000 kg are added. The standard protection classes are IP68 and IP69K. The certification is done as well, the entire range can be used for 3 000 d trade applications.
NEW. High capacity load cell type 740 now available up to 60 This development reduces the boundaries for weighing technology.
After all, with four sensors now carrying capacities up to 2,4 x 106 kg or 2 400 tonnes come available.
The 740 series, available from 15 tonnes off, is really heavy duty. The sensor is completely out of stainless steel and has the protection classes IP68 and IP69K. Moreover, there is a version for hazardous areas up to the zones 0 and 20. Because of outdoor applications a lightning protection is integrated. Despite these robust features, the accuracy is high, 0,025 or 0.1% of the weighing capacity.
Loading assemblies ensure proper operation. For all capacities suitable accessories are available. Each assembly has a prevention against transverse forces, loads in the horizontal plane. The self-aligning construction contributes. Integrated in the attachment is a device to make the weigher wind-resistant with one or two bolt(s). So by mounting the attachment horizontal you meet all requirements.
Improved mounting kit for load cells types 350 High accuracy of the sensor requires a proper assembly
Modern load cells proved to be reliable and accurate measuring elements. Thanks to the used material, steel or stainless steel, combined with protection classes up to IP68, they can be applied almost anywhere. However, a concern is the way of mounting. The accuracy of the sensor, 0.017%, requires a proper assembly. Uneven surfaces, tilting or loads in the horizontal plane have a negative effect.
Mounting kits contribute to the proper operation. The PENKO loading assemblies are recently improved, the force introduction now takes place via a ball and cup arrangement. As a result, side forces, loads in the horizontal plane, are no longer possible. Integrated in the kit are two bolts as a lift off protection, easing mounting and/or replacement of the sensor. This feature limits movement in the horizontal plane and makes the weighing system wind resistant. Thus, by mounting the fitting horizontal one meets all requirements.

New force measuring instruments must have more functions and features, be smaller and offer more value for money. PENKO responds to this with a new product range, type 1020-FMD. The instruments are suitable for automatic as well non automatic applications. They are a perfect interface between load cells with an integrated controller to the system for data processing. The unique PENKO way of measuring high speed 1600 conversions/s, and high internal resolution, 24 bits, guarantees a fast and accurate data transfer and/or cut off. These characteristics allow application of the instruments for static and dynamic force measurement as well as for destructive material tests. These applications are supported with zero adjustment, track recording, hold/peakhold/valleyhold and overload protection.

This type of measuring axles, operating by means of strain gages, is suitable for a lot of applications. The principle, on shear with a double Wheatstone bridge, matches with existing instrumentation and reduces the effect of undesired influences. The sturdy construction, temperature resistance and high protection class make these sensors fit for heavy duties such as mobile weighing, on or in all kind of conveyor systems, in hoists, cranes and winches. This makes it easy to provide such installations with an overload protection and/or a force measurement or weighing system. For high demanding applications, such as maritime and offshore, a redundant, so fail safe, measuring circuit can be provided.

For contemporary industrial weighing, strain gage load cells are the standard. Characteristics such as a high accuracy, reliability, compact sizes and universal application contribute to their popularity. In practice, the value of correct and precise mounting of load cells is hugely under estimated. A loading assembly will assist in the tricky task of setting up load cells in the most effective manner. First of all, a good loading assembly guarantees proper force introduction, protecting against unwanted forces while providing a lift off protection at the same time. Secondly, modern loading assemblies allow for installation of the load cell during construction time, for example while welding, drilling and grinding, is done. In this way, they prevent the load cell from overload or the load cell cable accidentally being cut during mounting. Our unique way of high speed measuring in conjunction with a high internal resolution guarantees the best results. Savings in raw materials and/or finished goods offer a fast return of investment. In addition, depending on the application, a turnkey pre-programmed version can be selected, alternatively, for a non-standard way of processing; a free programmable version is available. Custom solutions have their charms, but large scale customization may require many additional digital and/or analogue inputs and outputs to ensure that any thinkable application can be realized. A useful expansion of PENKO"s weighing instrumentation. Longterm availablity of weighing information
“Measure twice – cut once” is a famous proverb describing the value of correct measurement. On its own, measuring is just a start; the values must be available and remain available. The first requirement is achieved by the display on the instrument. For the second requirement, PENKO has now enhanced its instruments with an internal memory which should store the weight information of the past 7 years for any typical production usage. When fully loaded a FIFO (first in, first out) procedure applies in batches of approximately 6% of the contents. The individual weighing information contains at a minimum the time, date, weight and identification. Depending on the application, additional information, up to an entire e-mark protocol, is available as an option. The importance is that the memory resides inside the instrument and its contents can be recalled, printed or transmitted to a supervisory system. This feature is important for applications such as continuous (beltweighers)
Penko introduces a new instrument for belt weighing Type 1020-bw.
Beltweighers are automatic devices, meant for the control, the regulation and totalising of continuous flows of bulk material. Frequently a part of the belt conveyor is made weighing (m/l); giving the load per meter of the belt conveyor. A length measuring device establishes the displacement (l). Multiplying of both values (m/l x l = m) shows the mass of the bulk material, transported over the weigher. Simultaneously the belt speed, the displacement per unit of time (l/t), is established. This way the mass flow (m/l x l/t = m/t) can be calculated. During production the new instrument offers you a lot of information, such as the:
1. Total transported mass (m).
2. Mass flow (m/s).
3. Belt speed (l/t).
4. Load on the belt (m/l).
Apart of presenting this information it is possible to switch off or control the supply of the belt conveyor. So the mass flow can be regulated and a pre-set amount of bulk material can be delivered. The instrument has 3 inputs, 4 outputs

Stagnation means decline. Hot off the press PENKO offers a series of digitizers for force measurement, automatic and non-automatic weighing. These are in fact interfaces between the strain gage load cells and systems for data processing, controllers and so on. Thanks to the high measuring speed, 1600 conversions/s, and a high internal resolution, 24 bits, a fast and accurate data transfer is guaranteed. This combination also offers excellent dexterity for the determination of dynamic effects or the containment of undesired side effects through adequate filtering. As a standard all models are provided with a RS485 filed bus connection and USB to facilitate set up and back up functions. Additional models include RS232/422, Ethernet, CANBUS and Profibus. The range is completed with an analogous output, 0/4 – 20/24 mA. Easy and fast calibration is done digitally. Load Cell 420 makes tank and silo weighing easy and accurate. A new sensor for mass establishment.
To monitor the loading of tanks and silos a variety of load cells are available. A number of these has the disadvantage of only detecting whether the material inside the container is located above or below the sensor line. Other systems are indeed able to measure fill levels, the limitation however, is the surface of the material in the silo or tank. This surface depends on the product and is not necessarily representative of the true volume. Bulk loading and unloading for example, leaves a slope which may be asymmetrical. Typically bulk material will also vary in density when it enters the silo to the subsequent compacting as it settles. Fluids measuring, on the other hand, is effected by the formation of foam and/or the viscosity of the fluid against the container.
There is a solution to this. By combining a special mounting kit with a specific load cell, it is possible to directly determined the content load of a silo or tank at the base of the container stilts.
Dosing controllers type FLEX now for mobile applications A dc version
In the meantime the FLEX series of instruments exists out of three models, namely the
1. standard FLEX with active sense and a variable number of inputs and outputs.
2. FLEX-2100, with a passive sense and a fixed number of inputs and outputs.
3. 2 and 4 channel FLEX, suitable for 2 or 4 weighers, each with a passive sense and a variable number of inputs and outputs.
In many applications the power supply is not a mains but a battery, 12 or 24 V d. Examples you find in road traffic, internal transport, shipping, the offshore industry, hoists and transportable equipment. The absence of mains however does not mean there is no need for weighing. That’s why the existing range expands with a version, fit for voltages between 9 and 24 V dc. The well-known characteristics, a flexible controller with a high measure and control speed, having an operator terminal with a “touch panel”, several communication entries, inputs and outputs remains unchanged.
